Introduction: ceromer and ceramic inlays give any type of marginal microleakage, so we want to establish the marginal microleakage degree of ceromer and ceramic inlays from a study carried out by Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia in 2010, showing advantages for a professional regarding production, cementation, comfort, function and duration to the patient.

Materials and methods: 40 human teeth were used, specifically third upper and lower molars split by two groups A and B. Samples were thermo-cycled, sealed, coated and dye incorporation, cuts in ceramic isomet, cuts in ceromer isomet, and a frame digitized in tideland-microscope measured by micrometers in dye incorporation (methylene blue).

Result: there is not any significant difference (P= 0.3912) according to Miller et al’s scale, but based on a micrometric analysis we did not find a significant difference (P= 0.101). By reviewing individually data we found that ceramic inlays (2,147.3 um) of affected area length and ceromer inlays got a major microleakage (2,416.6 um).

Conclusion: ceramic inlays present a minor microleakage degree compared with ceromer inlays according to Miller’s measurement scale and the micrometer analysis carried out on study samples although there is not a relevant significance in the study from a statistical perspective.
