Author Guidelines

Authors interested in submitting their work to Ingeniería Solidaria must submit their manuscripts exclusively through the OJS platform. Please read carefully the guidelines, paper types, and formatting requirements before starting your submission process.

1. Purpose, Scope, and Accepted Paper Types

Ingeniería Solidaria is an academic journal aimed at disseminating research, reflection, and review articles in engineering (systems, industrial, electronics, civil, materials, mines, chemistry, mechanics) and engineering education.

• Scientific and Technological Research Article: Documents presenting detailed original results from completed research projects (Minimum 6,000 words – Maximum 8,000 words).
• Reflection Article Derived from Research: Documents presenting results of completed research from an analytical, interpretive, or critical perspective on a specific topic, using original sources (Minimum 6,000 words – Maximum 8,000 words).
• Review Article: Documents resulting from completed research in which published studies in a science or technology field are analyzed, systematized, or integrated. It is characterized by presenting a thorough literature review of at least 50 references (Minimum 6,000 words – Maximum 8,000 words).

Languages: Submissions in English are strongly encouraged to increase international visibility and citation. Manuscripts in Spanish and Portuguese are also accepted.
File Formats: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx), strictly formatted using the official Paper Template.

2. Manuscript Structure and Technical Requirements

• Title: Must be concise and informative, not exceeding 20 words (in English and Spanish).
• Abstract: Must not exceed 250 words and must strictly comply with the structured scheme: Introduction, Methodology, Results, Conclusions, Originality, and Research Limitations (in English and Spanish).
• Keywords: 3 to 6 normalized keywords (in English and Spanish).
• Author Identification:
  • Complete ORCID iD URL for every author (e.g., https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9735-1541).
  • CvLAC ID is mandatory for Colombian authors.
  • Fill out the Author(s) Form.

3. Citation Style - IEEE

Citation styles allow for the organized presentation of the bibliographic support on which a text is based, facilitating the location and direct consultation of sources. Ingeniería Solidaria adopts the standards designed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Reference List

The reference list must be organized numerically according to the order in which each reference appears in the text (the first author or text cited is number [1], the second is [2], and so on). Authors' names must be recorded starting with initials followed by the last name (e.g., [2] A. Grothendieck). Active DOI (Digital Object Identifier) or URLs for references must be provided whenever available. Below are the schemes for citing different types of sources:

• Book:
  [#] Initials of the name. Last name, Title of the book in italics. City: Publisher, year, pp. (range of consulted pages).
  Example: [1] R.H. Ballou, Business Logistics: Supply Chain Management. New York: Prentice Hall, 2003, pp 250-300.

• Book Chapter:
  [#] Initials of the name. Last name, "Title of the chapter" in Title of the book, edition number. Name of the editor, Ed. City: Publisher, year, page range.
  Example: [1] R. Anderson, "Access control" in Security Engineering, 2nd ed. New York: Wiley, pp 93-128.

• Journal Article:
  [#] Initials of the name. Last name, "Title of the article". Title of the journal (abbreviation), Vol., No. (month), pp. (page range), year. DOI: xx.xxxx/xxxx.
  Example: [1] S. Zhang, C. Zhu, J. K. O. Sin and P. K. T. Mok, "A novel ultrathin elevated channel low-temperature poly-Si TFT". IEEE Electron Device Lett. Vol. 20, Nov., pp. 569-571, 1999.

Body of the Text

Ingeniería Solidaria prefers that the surnames of the authors from whom ideas are taken be mentioned first, followed by the reference number in brackets: "Ortiz [1] presents a methodology for the analysis of mathematical problems." All references included in the body of the text must appear in the final reference list (and vice versa). References incorporated in the text must be numbered in order of appearance —Ortiz [1], Grothendieck [2], Gómez [3]—. If the same reference is used several times with specific location details, indicate it as follows: "Ortiz [1, p. 84]" or "Ortiz [1, Fig. 16]".

Nomenclature

The International System of Units (SI) and corresponding symbols will be used. If another technical metric system is employed, quantities must be followed by their equivalent in SI placed in parentheses.

Equations, Graphics, Tables, and Figures

Mathematical expressions must be created using an appropriate formula editor. Special symbols must be defined upon their first appearance. Each table, figure, or graphic must indicate its source. Graphs, figures, and tables must always be provided in an editable format (Excel is suggested) and submitted separately. Photographs or images must be submitted in JPG or PNG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and a maximum file size of 500 KB per file. Authors must certify permission for their reproduction.

• Publishing License, Authorship Declaration and Ethical Commitment Form (Word) — Official non-exclusive Open Access publishing authorization.
