Emergency contexts of Educational Excellence : renewed control project

The article specifies elements of the socio-economic and political historical context, in which the discourses of “Educational Excellence” emerge, revealing how they organize and put into operation coding, manipulation and control mechanisms, with the triad quality-evaluation-teacher training, that redefine educational senses and build a subjectivity of Excellence or “excellent teachers.” Thus, a tailored education is established to reconvert and appropriate new sources of productivity - knowledge, relationships, affections, technology - for the generation of multiple forms of wealth with the immaterial.   Methodologically a documentary analysis is carried out that tracks in the official speeches the development of the concept of “quality”, brought to the educational and hegemonized by economic theory, today reconfigured as excellence. Notions that were always present in the educational bets of teachers as concern and search for a relational, critical and cultural activity, whose transformative political and pedagogical force is proposed as an alternative to education in the article’s results and conclusions; in terms of opening up to broader understandings and constructions of the human, in the face of the excessive reconfigurative advance of the educational and social, as a capture of life, by the current capitalist and neoliberal project
