Subject and scope. In Mexico, more than 14% of adolescents drop out and more than 64% obtain limited levels of basic knowledge. The study of academic resilience arises as a proposal to counteract the problems of school dropout, low academic performance and school violence. The purpose of this work is to carry out a systematic and exhaustive review to know the socialization and psycho-emotional factors that have been associated with academic resilience in an adolescent context and the methodology used in these studies. Characteristics. An exhaustive and systematic search was carried out using the PRISMA method in the Scopus, Science Direct, Redalyc, Eric, Springer, Ebsco, Psycinfo, and Google Scholar databases; considering articles published from January 2010 to May 2021, using the keywords academic resilience, adolescents, teenagers, socioemotional, social factors, psychological factors, academic resilience, adolescents, socioemotional, social factors and psychological factors, located in the title, abstract and keywords. Findings. A total of 30 articles were selected that met the selection and inclusion criteria. The most relevant factors that have been associated with academic resilience are emotional parental support, strict monitoring of homework, self-regulation, personal and school self-efficacy, and good relationships with teachers and peers. The quantitative methodology that uses multivariate statistics is the one that was identified more frequently and experimental research less frequently. Conclusions. The socialization and psycho-emotional factors can be divided into three large groups: family, personal and school. It is recommended to develop explanatory models that allow a better understanding of academic resilience, integrating the aforementioned factors and using statistically novel methodologies.
