Originality

All articles submitted to the peer-review process of the journal Ingeniería Solidaria must be unpublished. We ask authors to refrain from submitting works that have already been partially or fully published by other means—except for online publications of working papers—or translations into other languages. In the case of translations, the relevance and contribution of the topic to the discipline will be analyzed. If evidence of similar or identical previously published documents is detected, the manuscript will be automatically rejected.

Use of generative artificial intelligence
As part of the commitment to academic integrity and transparency in scientific production, all authors must obligatorily complete the Creative Honesty Declaration Form of UCC Scientific Journals. This document must explicitly report the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools in the preparation of the manuscript, specifying the types of tools used and detailing how they contributed to the development of the article. The percentage of AI-generated content will be verified using the Turnitin tool and must not exceed 30%. Failure to comply with this guideline may result in the rejection of the manuscript.
Types of articles
According to the academic quality requirements of scientific publications, Ingeniería Solidaria seeks to publish the following types of articles:
Scientific and technological research article
A document that presents in detail the original results of completed research projects.
Reflection article derived from research
A document that presents results of completed research already published in other academic journals from the analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.
Review article
A document resulting from completed research in which the results of studies published on a field of science or technology are analyzed, systematized, or integrated to provide an account of advances and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a thorough literature review of at least 50 references.
Reviews
The National Journal of Dentistry will accept submissions of critical reviews of monographs, articles, research books, and scientific dissemination works in education that may be of interest to the journal's readers.
Languages
Ingeniería Solidaria publishes full articles originally written in English or Portuguese.
Article structure
The basic structure of an article consists of the following: title, abstract, keywords, main body of the text (introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions), and reference list. The details that authors must consider when preparing their article for Ingeniería Solidaria are widely described in the template created for this purpose. All articles must conform to the article model of the Ingeniería Solidaria publication.
Length
It is suggested that articles have a minimum length of four thousand (4000) words and a maximum of eight thousand (8000).

Periodicity

Ingeniería Solidaria is published three times a year (January, May, September). The journal may also publish special thematic issues at the initiative of the editor, committee members, or external collaborators, and such issues may be published as a special edition within the volume (the conditions or particularities of the special edition will be announced through a specific call for papers).

Peer review system
All articles submitted to the journal will undergo a double-blind peer review process, carried out with the help of external expert reviewers unrelated to the publishing institution for each topic.
Confidentiality
Since the peer review is conducted through a “double-blind system,” with the aim of ensuring independence among all parties (neither authors nor reviewers will have access to information about each other's identity, academic profile, or origin), such information will be known only to those responsible for the publication and will not be disclosed to third parties.
Reviewer profile
Reviewers for Ingeniería Solidaria must have at least a master’s degree, preferably a doctoral degree, with written work published in the area in which they are invited to review, and must be external to the educational institution that endorses the journal. Participation of reviewers is ad honorem and is expected to be assumed as part of an academic reciprocity pact, contributing constructively to strengthen (and validate) the research and knowledge of fellow scholars within the discipline.
Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to conduct a thorough and constructive reading of each article they agree to review, aiming not only to issue a recommendation of approval or rejection to the editor, but also to provide comments that may help authors improve their texts or reflect on the scope, possibilities, or shortcomings of their manuscript. Likewise, reviewers must consider that the texts entrusted to them are unpublished, and any improper or unauthorized use of the information contained therein would constitute a serious ethical breach. Additionally, the responsibility of reviewing a manuscript, once accepted, cannot be transferred to third parties, especially if this has not been justified or previously consulted with the editor. Finally, any conflict of interest identified by the reviewer after receiving a manuscript and which may affect their independence must be disclosed.

Exclusivity

Articles submitted for review in Ingeniería Solidaria cannot be simultaneously under evaluation by other journals, nor should they be submitted simultaneously to other peer-review processes.

Ethics
The journal and its editorial team will promote, through their policies and actions, ethics in research processes, the appropriate use of content protected by copyright, and the quality of the works published. This ensures that the different collaborators (editors, authors, and reviewers) interact under principles of academic integrity. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for the handling of inappropriate conduct in academic publishing.
Notification of cases
If there is any evidence of ethical issues in the research presented in the works published by the journal—doubts about scientific rigor, suspicion of data falsification or manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, identification of prior publications (“duplicate publications”), authorship issues, or plagiarism—we ask that you immediately contact the journal editor so they can investigate the case and take the appropriate actions. Notifications received regarding ethical problems will be handled with absolute confidentiality, protecting the identity of the person reporting the issue, if requested.
Retractions, corrections, and conflict resolution
The journal follows the guidelines and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling inappropriate behavior in academic publishing. Likewise, retractions or corrections will be made to articles already published whose content presents errors that affect their scientific quality or appropriate authorship acknowledgment, whether due to unintentional mistakes in the research and publishing process or due to serious ethical issues such as plagiarism, falsifications, data manipulation, among others.

Open access

The journal publishes its content in open access, without any embargo period. Likewise, all published works appear under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and their use must comply with the terms of that license.

Digital preservation of content
Ediciones UCC will guarantee the digital preservation of the content published so that authors can always retrieve their articles over time and maintain access to the history and evolution of the journal.
Use of content and self-archiving
Authors may self-archive their works in institutional repositories, in the final version (or editor’s version) in which the article was published, provided that the bibliographic data of the original publication are recorded, thus giving proper credit to the journal. Additionally, when self-archiving a published article, authors are encouraged to include a link to the article via its DOI, so that it can be accessed from the journal’s official website. Active participation by authors in disseminating their published work among colleagues, undergraduate and graduate students, and the academic community in general is key to achieving a more effective contribution to the discipline or greater impact on research and academic training processes.
Publication costs
Submission of works to the journal and the editorial process are free of charge; there is no cost at any stage for authors. The journal is fully funded by Ediciones UCC.
Submission
Articles must be submitted in Word format, adjusting the text to the template suggested by the journal and exclusively through the Open Journal System. Along with the article, each author must submit an author file and an ethical pledge and a license agreement granting Ingeniería Solidaria the rights to use their contribution (forms completed in the author rights notice section). When an author submits their article through OJS, the platform automatically sends a receipt confirmation, and the editorial team will verify (as soon as possible) whether the article meets the basic requirements (citation standards, formatting, relevance for a scientific publication, objectives, theoretical framework, methodology, conclusions, and bibliography). Articles not meeting these standards will be rejected. If the articles comply with the publication rules, the peer-review process will begin.
