This paper focuses on the quantification of the difference that exists between the laws on the Rational Use of Energy (rue) from some representative countries on each continent. The study emphasizes on units of study for the industrial sector. Particularly, we propose a comparative study, by countries, of the current legislation through textual research and variance analysis, meaning to find a percentage indicator of the degree of likeness between different law systems. We also seek to characterize common study units among the observed cases that are especially important for the application to the industrial sector in general. This paper was made in 2011 as part of the research line “Characterization of the behavior of the sme industry sector for the processing of basic plastic shapes in Bogotá relative to the consumption of electric power”, subscribed to the research group “Ingenio IndusPymes” from the Industrial Engineering program of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.
