The use of virtual environments and icts as teaching tools applied to a face to face education model
This research paper shows the results of the research project “Teaching Model and Strategies Involving New icts and Virtual Environments to Support Face to Face Teaching”. The project was approved by Conadi and undertaken on 2011 at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia at Ibagué, by the research group Interdisciplinary Informatics GI3. We developed a survey to assess the use of nicts in the teaching activity of the instructors of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia at Ibagué. The obtained data shows that teachers do not include new information technologies in their classroom activity. This fact has led us to propose new administrative and academic strategies to motivate the use of icts and virtual environments as tools to support teaching activities in direct teaching. The idea is that these tools will serve as multiplying mechanisms for the learning of students in every course, keeping the sectional components of the study plan according to academic programs.
