The 2030 Agenda as an instrument for guaranteeing human rights
a critical reading of the Sustainable Development Goals
This analysis critically examines the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, highlighting its structural, legal, and political limitations. Although it sets ambitious goals, it lacks effective binding mechanisms. Inclusion, often merely symbolic, fails to alter real conditions. Inequalities, environmental setbacks, social exclusion, and limited accountability persist. Global promises contrast with insufficient material impacts. The technical approach depoliticizes historical struggles and overlooks diverse contexts. Only by rethinking development through the lens of justice, equity, and collective dignity will it be possible to achieve meaningful objectives with genuine universal human benefit.
