Originality

All articles or reviews submitted for peer review in DIXI journal must be unpublished, original, and proprietary. We request that authors refrain from submitting works that have already been partially or fully published elsewhere—except for online working papers—or translations into other languages. If evidence of similar or identical documents already published is detected, the work will be automatically rejected.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

As part of the commitment to academic integrity and transparency in scientific production, all authors are required to complete the Declaration of Creative Honesty Form of the UCC Scientific Journals. This document must explicitly state the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools in the preparation of the manuscript, specifying the type of tools used and detailing how they contributed to the development of the article. The percentage of AI-generated content will be verified using Turnitin and must not exceed 30%. Failure to comply with this guideline may result in the rejection of the manuscript.

Types of Articles

In accordance with the academic quality requirements for the indexing of Colombian journals (National Bibliographic Index – Publindex), DIXI primarily seeks to publish the following types of articles:

Scientific and Technological Research Article

A document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects.

Reflection Article Derived from Research

A document that presents results of research already completed and published in other academic journals from the analytical, interpretive, or critical perspective of the author on a specific topic, using original sources.

Review Article

A document resulting from completed research that analyzes, systematizes, or integrates the results of published research on a specific field in science or technology, to account for advances and development trends. It is characterized by a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references.

Reviews

DIXI will accept the submission of critical reviews on monographs, articles, research, and scientific dissemination books in education that may be of interest to the journal's readers.

Languages

The DIXI journal will publish full articles originally written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Article Structure

The basic structure of an article consists of the following: title, abstract, keywords, body of the text (which may vary depending on the type of article and the author's intention), and a list of references. The details an author must consider when preparing their article for DIXI are described more extensively in a template developed for this purpose.

Purpose and Coherence

All articles submitted to DIXI are expected to have an explicit purpose and aim to contribute something of interest to the journal's readership. Additionally, beyond the possible structure the author chooses to organize their article's content (review or essay), the texts should follow a coherent scheme that includes three essential elements: introduction, articulated development of the topic, and conclusion.

Length

It is suggested that articles be between six thousand (6000) and eight thousand (8000) words in length. Critical reviews should not exceed fifteen hundred (1500) words.

Authors

Authors participating in the journal are expected to present original texts of their own creation, derived from rigorous research processes, not previously published, and properly use bibliographic sources or any other material protected by copyright. The texts must also be carefully written, considering the formatting and citation requirements that correspond to the journal's style.

Reviewer Profile

DIXI's reviewers will have at least a master's degree and published written work in the area they are called upon to evaluate.

Confidentiality

Since the peer review will be conducted through a "double-blind" system to ensure greater independence of the parties (neither the authors nor the reviewers will have access to each other's identity, academic profile, or origin), that information will only be handled by the journal's staff and will not be disclosed to third parties. The documentation for each article will be kept for indexing or peer review verification purposes.

Peer Review System

All articles submitted to the journal for its editions will undergo a "double-blind" peer review process conducted with the help of expert peers in each subject. Peer participation is voluntary and is expected to be seen as an academic reciprocity agreement, contributing constructively to strengthening (and validating) the research and contributions of other colleagues within the discipline. In the case of reviews, which are dissemination documents, they may be reviewed by the editor or other members of the journal's editorial team. Their publication will be decided based on thematic and textual coherence, relevance to the field, or the importance or timeliness of the discussion it proposes.

Reviewers

DIXI's reviewers are expected to provide a thorough and constructive reading of each article they agree to review, not only issuing a recommendation for approval or rejection to the editor but also offering feedback to help authors improve their texts or reflect on the scope, possibilities, or shortcomings of their manuscript. Reviewers must also consider that the texts entrusted to them by the editor are unpublished, and any improper or unauthorized use of the information contained therein would constitute a serious ethical breach. Additionally, the responsibility of reviewing a manuscript, once accepted, cannot be transferred to third parties, especially without prior justification and consultation with the editor. Finally, any conflict of interest the reviewer identifies after receiving a manuscript that could potentially compromise their independence in forming a judgment must be reported.

Exclusivity

Articles submitted for peer review in DIXI cannot be under review by other journals and must not be submitted simultaneously to other review processes.

Ethics

The journal and its editorial team will promote, through their policies and actions, ethics in research processes, appropriate use of content protected by copyright, and the quality of the works they publish, ensuring that all collaborators interact under principles of academic integrity.

Notification of Cases

If there is evidence of ethical issues in the research presented by the works published by the journal, doubts about their scientific rigor, suspicion of data falsification or improper manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, identification of prior publications ("repackaging"), authorship problems, or plagiarism, we kindly request immediate contact with the journal editor to investigate the case and take appropriate action. Notifications of ethical issues will be handled with complete confidentiality, protecting the identity of the person who detected the problem, if requested.

Retractions, Corrections, and Conflict Resolution

The journal follows the guidelines and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for addressing inappropriate conduct in academic publishing. Similarly, retractions or corrections will be made to published articles whose content presents errors affecting their scientific quality or the proper recognition of their authors, whether due to unintentional mistakes in the research and publication process or serious ethical issues such as plagiarism, falsification, manipulation of data, among others.

Open Access

The journal publishes its content under open access, with no embargo period. All published works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and their use must comply with the licensing conditions.

Preservación digital de los contenidos

Ediciones UCC guarantees the digital preservation of published content, ensuring that authors can always retrieve their articles over time and maintain access to the journal's history and evolution.

Content Use and Self-Archiving

Authors may self-archive their work in institutional repositories, in the final version (or publisher version) in which the article was published, provided that the bibliographic details of the original publication are included, thus giving credit to the journal. Additionally, when self-archiving a published article, authors are encouraged to include a link to the article via its DOI, so it can be accessed through the journal's official website. Authors taking an active role in disseminating their published work among colleagues, undergraduate and graduate students, and the broader academic community is key to making a more effective contribution to the field or generating greater impact in research and academic training processes.

Publication Costs

The submission of works to the journal and the editorial process is free of charge; there is no cost to authors at any stage. The journal is entirely funded by Ediciones UCC.

Submissions

Article submissions must be made according to the template suggested by the journal (see Submission Checklist), exclusively through the OJS platform. Along with the article, each author must submit a fully completed author form and an originality and ethical commitment letter.

Citation Style - APA 7th Edition

Citation styles allow for the organized presentation of the bibliographic support on which a text is based (in its background, arguments, methodology, etc.), facilitating the direct location and consultation of these sources. In the case of DIXI, the standards designed by The Bluebook. A Uniform System of Citation have been selected, commonly used in legal publications.

Reference List

References in the body of the text are fully included in footnotes, with Arabic numerals. Additionally, a reference list should be included at the end of the article, in alphabetical order based on the author's last name or, if unavailable, by title, following the order of footnote references. Graphic Aspects and Other Particularities

Each table, figure, or graphic must indicate its source (or if it is self-created), referencing the corresponding number. Graphs, figures, and tables must always be supplied in an editable format (Excel is recommended). In the case of photographs or images, they must be sent at a minimum resolution of 350 dpi, in .jpg format, and authors must certify that they have permission to use or reproduce them. All graphic elements included in the article must be referenced or mentioned within the body of the text.

Article Peer Review Process

As previously described, DIXI will follow a "double-blind" peer review system to evaluate and decide on the publication of its main articles. Below is a more detailed outline of the stages in the peer review process:

Reviewer Selection

If the article is accepted for peer review, the editor will begin the process of assigning reviewers, identifying and inviting two expert researchers on the article's subject to receive the full text and a form that will guide their evaluation.

Reception and Editorial Evaluation

Once the editor receives the article submission, a notification will be sent to the author confirming the receipt. The editor will then conduct a preliminary review of the article to determine if the journal's presentation parameters have been fully met and if the article aligns with the thematic and editorial line. The editor will have full authority to decide whether the article can be accepted for a full peer review process or if it should be rejected in the first instance. Additionally, in this phase, the manuscript may be returned to the authors requesting corrections or clarifications before the article is officially registered for peer review. In such a case, authors must return the article with adjustments (or any omitted documentation, such as the author form or commitment letter) if they wish to continue with the process.

Review Timelines

The usual timeframe for a complete peer review cycle (locating reviewers, invitation and acceptance, receiving feedback, delivering to authors) should not exceed one quarter. However, in some topics, it may be challenging to find reviewers willing and adequately qualified to evaluate, so deadlines will be agreed upon directly with each reviewer, ensuring the process is conducted as efficiently as possible.

Results

The editor will send a result to the authors based on the feedback from at least two reviewers. In the case of conflicting opinions from the reviewers (one approval and one rejection), a third reviewer will be consulted before the editor communicates a decision to the authors. The evaluation result can be "approved without modifications," "approved with minor modifications," "approved with substantial modifications," or "rejected." The "approved with substantial modifications" result is equivalent to "revise and resubmit," implying that the authors are willing to make a profound revision of the proposal. Otherwise, the journal will conclude the peer review process, allowing the authors to submit the work to another publication.

Corrections

Along with sending the result, if the editor deems it feasible to receive an adjusted version of an article, a deadline for submitting the revised version will be agreed upon with the authors, ranging from two (2) to ten (10) weeks in the case of substantial revisions. If the authors fail to meet the agreed deadlines, the editor may terminate the article's process, discarding its publication in the journal. Furthermore, to facilitate verification of the revised version, authors must make the necessary adjustments to their article using Word's track changes tool and submit a letter addressed to each reviewer explaining the changes made. Without submitting this response to the reviewers, the editor will not send the revised article to the verification phase.

Verification and Final Version

Verification will usually be conducted with the help of the reviewers, but the editor may also review the adjustments made to the article directly, especially if the corrections have been minor. Therefore, in cases where only slight adjustments are requested for an article, authors are asked to refrain from incorporating significant or conceptual or methodological changes that have not been reviewed by the reviewers. On the other hand, if the adjustments are satisfactory, the editor will inform the authors of the approval and request the submission of the final version of the article in a template that will be sent to editorial production. If any significant error is detected during the preparation of the final version that requires correcting or modifying the article in a substantial way, the editor must be informed.

Editorial Production

The articles and various types of texts approved for publication in a DIXI issue will undergo a professional editorial production process consisting of the following stages: copy editing, layout, proofreading, verification, and final approval of the artwork.

Editorial Monitoring

Authors must submit the manuscript approved for publication in a template provided by the journal, ensuring full compliance with all the instructions supplied. Additionally, authors are responsible for addressing any comments, questions, or corrections that arise during editing within the agreed-upon timeframes to avoid publication delays. Ensuring the integrity of the text and its readability is also the responsibility of the authors. Once the articles or texts in production have been approved in their final artwork for publication, any errors or omissions will be the responsibility of the authors.

Distribution and Access

Each author will receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their article was published. Additionally, the digital version of the article and the entire issue will be available for the author's use, to support its dissemination among the target audience. DIXI follows an open access policy and seeks as many channels and strategies as possible to ensure the editions it publishes are visible to a wide audience (national and international). However, authors should be aware that the impact of their article's dissemination depends largely on their active participation in the process. Authors are expected to distribute the digital version of the article to researchers in their field, both domestically and abroad, and to promote its use as bibliographic support in research and writing processes among their colleagues, or encourage its consultation in classrooms among undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.

Reproduction and Translations

If you wish to reproduce or translate an article or text published in DIXI, please write to the journal's email (dixi@ucc.edu.co) for the editor's attention. However, the texts published in the journal do not require special authorization for consultation, download, or linking from personal, institutional, or repository websites.

Legal Notice

The views or perspectives expressed in the articles and texts published by DIXI are the responsibility of their authors and do not, in any way, reflect the journal, the Publisher, or the Cooperative University of Colombia. Likewise, the fundamental purpose of the journal is to serve the academic community and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Education, so the selection process for the material it publishes includes academic, editorial, and legal aspects that are evaluated in each case to decide on the manuscripts received. Subject to these factors, the journal is not obligated to publish any text and may decline publication at any stage of the process if it deems it does not align with its editorial line or contradicts any of its editorial policies. Similarly, any claims by third parties regarding the use of works or excerpts thereof in an article or text will be the responsibility of the authors, thereby exonerating the Cooperative University of Colombia.
