Originality

All articles or reviews submitted to the peer review process of Cooperativismo & Desarrollo must be unpublished, original, and the authors’ own work. Authors are requested to refrain from submitting works that have been partially or fully published elsewhere —except for online working papers— or translations into other languages. If evidence of similar or identical documents already published is found, the work will be automatically rejected.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

As part of the commitment to academic integrity and transparency in scientific production, all authors must complete the UCC Scientific Journals Creative Honesty Declaration Form. This document must explicitly report the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools in the preparation of the manuscript, specifying the type of tools used and detailing how they contributed to the development of the article. The percentage of content generated by AI will be verified through Turnitin and must not exceed 30%. Failure to comply with this guideline may result in manuscript rejection.

Types of Articles

According to the academic quality requirements for indexing Colombian journals (National Bibliographic Index – Publindex), Cooperativismo & Desarrollo mainly seeks the publication of the following types of articles:

Scientific and Technological Research Article

Document presenting in detail the original results of completed research projects.

Reflection Article Derived from Research

Document presenting results from already completed research published in other academic journals from an analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective of the author of the reflection article, on a specific topic using original sources.

Review Article

Document resulting from completed research that analyzes, systematizes, or integrates the results of published research in a scientific or technological field to account for advances and development trends. Characterized by a thorough literature review of at least 50 references.

Reviews

Cooperativismo & Desarrollo will accept critical reviews of monographs, articles, research books, and scientific dissemination texts in education that may interest the journal’s readers. The journal will have a space for articles or essays selected from competitions or national academic events in which the journal participates.

Languages

Cooperativismo & Desarrollo will publish full articles originally written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Article Structure

The basic structure of an article includes: title, abstract, keywords, main text (which may vary depending on the type of article and the author’s intent), and reference list. Details authors should consider when preparing their article for Cooperativismo & Desarrollo are described more extensively in a template developed for this purpose.

Purpose and Coherence

All articles submitted to Cooperativismo & Desarrollo are expected to have an explicit purpose and contribute to the interest of the journal’s readership. Furthermore, regardless of the structure the author chooses for organizing their article (review or essay), texts should follow a coherent framework with three essential elements: introduction, developed body, and conclusion.

Length

Articles are suggested to have a minimum of 6,000 words and a maximum of 8,000 words. Critical reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.

Thesauri

The journal suggests using the following thesauri for incorporating keywords: UNESCO Thesaurus and EconLit.

Authors

Authors participating in the journal are expected to submit original texts, their own creation, derived from rigorous research processes, not previously published, properly citing bibliographic sources and other copyrighted material. Texts must also be carefully written and comply with the formatting and citation requirements of the journal’s style.

Reviewer Profile

Reviewers for Cooperativismo & Desarrollo must have at least a master’s degree and published written work in the area they are invited to evaluate.

Confidentiality

As peer review is conducted under a “double-blind” system to ensure independence of the parties (neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities, academic profile, or affiliation), this information is only handled by the journal staff and will not be disclosed to third parties. All documentation from the peer review process will be preserved for indexing or verification purposes.

Peer Review System

All articles submitted to the journal will undergo a “double-blind” peer review with the help of experts in each field. Reviewer participation is voluntary and seen as an academic reciprocity pact to constructively strengthen and validate colleagues’ research. Reviews of dissemination documents may be conducted by the editor or other editorial team members, and publication depends on thematic and textual coherence, relevance, and interest.

Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to provide thorough, constructive feedback, not only recommending approval or rejection but helping authors improve their work and reflect on its scope or shortcomings. Texts are considered unpublished; any unauthorized use is a serious ethical violation. Evaluation responsibility cannot be transferred, and conflicts of interest must be reported.

Exclusivity

Articles submitted to Cooperativismo & Desarrollo cannot be under review by other journals or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

Ethics

The journal and its editorial team foster ethics in research processes, proper use of copyrighted materials, and quality of published work, ensuring collaboration under principles of academic integrity.

Reporting Cases

If there is evidence of ethical issues in submitted research, questions about scientific rigor, data manipulation, conflicts of interest, previous publication (“self-plagiarism”), authorship, or plagiarism, please contact the journal editor immediately. Notifications will be handled with complete confidentiality.

Retractions, Corrections, and Conflict Resolution

The journal follows COPE guidelines for handling inappropriate conduct in academic publishing. Retractions or corrections will be made for articles with errors affecting scientific quality or proper authorship recognition.

Open Access

The journal publishes content in open access without embargo. All works are under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and use must comply with this licensing.

Digital Preservation of Content

The Editorial Fund will ensure the digital preservation of published content so that authors can always retrieve their articles and maintain access to the history and evolution of the journal.

Use of Content and Self-Archiving

Authors may self-archive their work in institutional repositories in the final (or publisher’s) version, ensuring proper citation of the original publication. It is recommended to include a DOI link to the article for consultation on the official journal website. Active author participation enhances research impact and dissemination.

Publication Costs

Submission and editing of works are free of charge. The journal is fully funded by the Editorial Fund of Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.

Submission

Articles must be submitted using the journal template via OJS. Each author must submit a completed author form and an originality and ethical commitment letter.

Citation Style - APA Sixth Edition

Citation styles allow presenting the bibliographic support on which a text is based—its background, arguments, methodology, etc.—in an organized way and facilitate the direct location and consultation of these sources. For the journal Cooperativismo & Desarrollo, standards designed by the American Psychological Association (APA), commonly used in social sciences publications, have been selected. Below are some aspects to consider for correct use of APA sixth edition and the particularities incorporated by the journal.

Reference List

References should appear in alphabetical order by the first letter of the reference. Works by the same author should be organized chronologically. Below is the scheme for citing a book, a book chapter, and a journal article, with examples for each case.

Body of the Text

When citing in the text, the author's last name and the work's year are included in parentheses within the sentence. Personal communications are cited in-text but not included in the reference list. If the author's last name is in the sentence, only the year is in parentheses; otherwise, both last name and year appear in parentheses. Works with more than two authors are cited fully the first time and subsequently with only the first author's last name followed by "et al." If more than six authors, "et al." is used from the first mention. All in-text references must match the final reference list exactly.

Formatting and Other Particularities

Each table, figure, or chart must indicate its source (or if self-made), referencing it with the corresponding number. Graphs, figures, and tables must always be provided in editable format (Excel recommended). Photographs or images should be sent at a minimum resolution of 350 dpi, .jpg format, and authors must certify that they have permission to use or reproduce them.

Os estilos de citação permitem apresentar de forma organizada o suporte bibliográfico no qual se fundamenta um texto — antecedentes, argumentos, metodologia, etc. — e facilitam a localização e consulta direta dessas fontes. Para a revista Cooperativismo & Desenvolvimento, foram selecionados os padrões da American Psychological Association (APA), comumente usados em publicações de ciências sociais. Corpo do Texto

Ao fazer uma citação no texto, o sobrenome do autor e o ano da obra são incluídos entre parênteses dentro da frase. Comunicações pessoais são citadas no texto, mas não aparecem na lista de referências. Se o sobrenome do autor estiver na frase, apenas o ano vai entre parênteses; caso contrário, sobrenome e ano aparecem entre parênteses. Para obras com mais de dois autores, cite todos os sobrenomes na primeira menção e depois apenas o primeiro seguido de "et al." Para mais de seis autores, usa-se "et al." desde a primeira menção. Todas as referências citadas no texto devem corresponder à lista final.

Aspectos Gráficos e Outras Particularidades

Cada tabela, figura ou gráfico deve indicar a fonte (ou se é de elaboração própria), referenciando com o número correspondente. Gráficos, figuras e tabelas devem ser fornecidos em formato editável (recomenda-se Excel). Fotografias ou imagens devem ser enviadas em resolução mínima de 350 dpi, formato .jpg, e os autores devem certificar que têm permissão para usá-las ou reproduzi-las.

Article Review Process

As previously described, Cooperativismo & Desarrollo follows a "double-blind" peer review system to evaluate and decide on the publication of its main articles. Below is a more detailed overview of the stages of the review process:

Reviewer Selection

If an article is accepted for review, the editor will start the process of assigning reviewers, identifying and inviting two experts in the topic of the article, who will receive the full text and a form to guide their evaluation.

Editorial Reception and Evaluation

Once the editor receives the article submission, the author will be notified confirming delivery. The editor will conduct a preliminary review to check if the submission meets the journal's presentation standards and aligns with the thematic and editorial scope. The editor has full authority to accept the article for full review or reject it initially. At this stage, the manuscript may also be returned for corrections or clarifications before official registration. Authors must return the revised article (or any missing documentation, e.g., author form or ethical commitment letter) to proceed.

Review Timelines

A full review cycle (identifying reviewers, invitations and acceptance, receiving evaluations, delivering results to authors) should not exceed three months. However, for some topics it may be difficult to find available and qualified reviewers, so deadlines will be arranged individually, considering their availability to ensure efficiency.

Results

The editor will communicate results based on at least two reviewers. In case of a disagreement (one approval and one rejection), a third reviewer will be consulted before a decision is sent to the authors. Results can be "accepted without changes," "accepted with minor changes," "accepted with substantial changes," or "rejected." "Accepted with substantial changes" corresponds to "revise and resubmit," requiring a major revision by authors. Otherwise, the review process ends, allowing authors to submit elsewhere.

Corrections

If the editor considers a revised version feasible, a delivery deadline between two (2) and ten (10) weeks will be set for substantial revisions. Failure to meet deadlines may result in termination of the process. Authors must use Word's track changes and send a letter explaining all modifications to each reviewer. Without this, the revised manuscript will not proceed.

Verification and Final Version

Verification is usually conducted with reviewers’ help, but the editor may also review minor adjustments. Authors should avoid introducing substantial conceptual or methodological changes not approved by reviewers. Once satisfactory, the editor will request the final article version in the journal template for production. Any significant errors found in this stage must be reported to the editor.

Editorial Production

Approved articles and texts undergo a professional editorial production process, including: style editing, layout, proofreading, verification, and final approval of artwork.

Editorial Follow-up

Authors must submit the approved manuscript using the journal template, following all instructions. They are responsible for addressing observations, corrections, or doubts during editing within agreed deadlines. Authors also ensure content integrity and readability. Once finalized, any remaining errors or omissions are the authors’ responsibility.

Distribution and Access

Each author receives two complimentary copies of the issue. The digital version will also be available to support dissemination. Cooperativismo & Desarrollo follows open access and seeks broad visibility channels. Authors are expected to actively promote their articles for national and international impact, including use in research and academic instruction.
