    Author Guidelines

    Authors interested in submitting their work to Cooperativismo & Desarrollo must submit their manuscripts exclusively through the OJS platform. Please read the guidelines, article types, and formatting requirements carefully before starting the submission process.


    1. Purpose, Scope, and Types of Accepted Articles

    Cooperativismo & Desarrollo is an academic publication aimed at disseminating theoretical and empirical articles related to the Social Economy and Cooperativism. The journal seeks to contribute both to the academic field and to the dissemination of experiences, initiatives, and projects that may have local or regional implications. Its target audience consists of researchers, research groups, professors, and students in the economic, administrative, and social sciences.

    • Scientific and technological research article: A document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects.
    • Research-based reflection article: A document that presents results from completed research from an analytical, interpretive, or critical perspective on a specific topic, drawing on original sources.
    • Review article: A document resulting from completed research that analyzes, systematizes, or integrates the results of published research in a field of science or technology, with the purpose of reporting on advances and development trends. It is characterized by a thorough bibliographic review of at least 50 references.
    • Reviews: A critical document on monographs, articles, and research and scientific dissemination books related to the Social Economy and Cooperativism that may be of interest to the journal's readers.
    • Student section: A space for the publication of articles or essays selected from national academic competitions or events in which the journal participates.

    Languages: The journal publishes full articles originally written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.
    File formats: Submissions must be sent in Word format, following the Article Template suggested by the journal.


    2. Manuscript Structure and Technical Requirements

    • Article structure: The basic structure of an article consists of a title, abstract, keywords, main text, and reference list. The main text may vary according to the type of article and the author's purpose. Specific details can be found in the template developed by the journal.
    • Purpose and coherence: Articles must present an explicit purpose and a contribution of interest to the journal's readership. Texts must maintain a coherent structure that includes, as appropriate, an introduction, an articulated development of the topic, and a conclusion.
    • Length: Articles are recommended to have a minimum length of 6,000 words and a maximum of 8,000 words. Critical reviews must not exceed 1,500 words.
    • Abstract: According to the article type, the abstract must include the following elements:
      • Research article: Introduction, Methodology, Results, and Conclusions.
      • Reflection article: Purpose, description of the topics addressed, point of view or central idea of the analysis or findings, and Conclusions.
      • Literature review article: Topic and scope, characteristics of the period, origin and types of documents, methodology used, findings and key aspects of the analysis of the literature, and Conclusions.
      • Other textual types: Purpose, Topics, Development, and Conclusions.
    • Keywords: The use of terms from the following thesauri is recommended: UNESCO Thesaurus and EconLit.
    • Author identification:
      • URL completa del ORCID iD de cada autor (ejemplo: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9735-1541).
      • El ID de CvLAC es obligatorio para autores colombianos.
      • Each author must fully complete the Author Form.

    3. Citation Style - APA Sixth Edition

    Citation styles allow authors to present the bibliographic support underlying a text in an organized manner and facilitate the direct location and consultation of sources. Cooperativismo & Desarrollo follows the standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA), which are commonly used in publications in the social sciences.

    Reference List

    References must be arranged alphabetically according to the first letter of the reference. Works by the same author must be arranged chronologically. The following are some formats for citing different types of sources:

    • Book:
      Surname, A. A. (Year). Title. City: Publisher.
      Example: Manzanal, M. y Rofman, A. (1989). Las economías regionales de la Argentina. Crisis y políticas de desarrollo. Buenos Aires: CEUR.
    • Book chapter:

    • Journal article:

    Main Text

    When a reference is made in the main text, the author's surname and the date of the work are included in parentheses within the sentence. Personal communications are cited in the text but are not included in the reference list. If the sentence includes the author's surname, only the date is written in parentheses; if the author is not included in the sentence, the surname and date are written in parentheses.

    If the work has more than two authors, the first citation includes all surnames; in subsequent mentions, only the first author's surname followed by et al. is used. If there are more than six authors, et al. is used from the first mention.

    All references incorporated into the main text must be included in the reference list at the end of the article. Likewise, the reference list must not contain bibliography that has not been used and cited in the text. The correspondence between in-text citations and the final reference list must be exact.

    Graphic Elements and Other Particularities

    Each table, figure, or graph must indicate its source or state whether it is the author's own work. Graphs, figures, and tables must always be provided in an editable format; Excel is recommended. Photographs or images must be submitted at a minimum resolution of 350 dpi, in .jpg format, and authors must certify that they have the necessary permissions for their use or reproduction.
