Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the speed of bone healing on periapical lesions treated with MTA (Aggregate Mineral Trioxide) and MTA with Platelet Rich Plasma in patients of the Dental Clinic of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Pasto.

Materials and methods: We carried out an experimental study to determine the relationship between the dependent and independent variables regarding periodontal healing after performing apical surgery in patients not systemically compromised systemically, diagnosed with chronic non supurative apical periodontitis and having periapical lesions greater than 6 mm either horizontally or vertically.

Results: According to statistical tests there is no significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of vertical and horizontal gain to perform radiographic controls at 3, 6, 12 months (p > 0.05).

Conclusions: We performed a study in 14 patients treated with apical surgery with retro seal, in 7 patients we only used MTA, with the other 7 we used MTA with Platelet Rich Plasma. The results show no significant variations between the two groups with controlled healing time.
