Adenomatoid hyperplasia of salivary glands in palate

Adenomatoid salivary gland hyperplasia is a rare benign lesion, which can mimic a neoplasm. It is characterized by hyperplasia and hypertrophy of glandular acini of the minor salivary glands, being considered a hamartoma, which can be present in different locations of the oral cavity. It has not been associated with any particular local or systemic condition.  This article presents a case of adenomatoid hyperplasia managed in the Postgraduate Programme in Periodontology at the Antonio Nariño University. Bogota Colombia. A 33-year-old male patient presented with a pale pink papule in the palatal vault, asymptomatic with a presumptive clinical diagnosis of squamous papilloma. Surgical excision was performed, the result of the histopathological study was adenomatoid hyperplasia of the salivary glands. In summary, to date, approximately 85 cases have been published worldwide in the scientific literature, yet the etiology and pathophysiology of this lesion remain unclear.
