Ways to assimilate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the Mexican State
This article presents a synthesis of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and analyzes how Mexican institutions seek to assimilate and generate the necessary conditions for their achievement in the medium term. This process involves the creation of specific funding mechanisms and the development of civil, criminal, and electoral legal frameworks aimed at attaining these objectives. Such policies and laws must be adapted to the country’s particularities, considering its socioeconomic circumstances, the diversity of its population, and the characteristics of its economy—factors that determine the real possibilities of implementation. The study also examines the coherence between the national agenda and international commitments, identifying structural problems, limitations, and the scope of actions undertaken. The analysis reveals that, although Mexico has formally incorporated the SDGs into its planning, significant challenges remain in areas such as equality, justice, social inclusion, peace, international partnerships, and ecological sustainability. The comparison between projected goals and observed realities provides insight into the current state of the problem and invites reflection on the strategies required to advance toward genuinely sustainable development.
