Originality

All articles or reviews submitted to the peer review process of the journal Cooperativism & Development must be unpublished, original, and self-authored. We ask authors to refrain from submitting works that have already been partially or fully published elsewhere—except for online publications of working papers or translations into other languages. If evidence of similar or identical documents already published is detected, the work will be automatically rejected.

Type of Articles

According to the academic quality requirements for the indexation of Colombian journals (National Bibliographic Index – Publindex), Cooperativism & Development primarily seeks to publish the following types of articles:

Scientific and Technological Research Article

A document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects.

Reflective Article Derived from Research

A document that presents the results of completed research published in other academic journals from the analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective of the author on a specific topic, using original sources.

Review Article

A document resulting from completed research that analyzes, systematizes, or integrates the results of published research in a field of science or technology to account for advancements and development trends. It is characterized by a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references.

Reviews

Cooperativism & Development will accept the submission of critical reviews on monographs, articles, research books, and scientific dissemination in education that may be of interest to the journal's readers. The journal will have a space where selected articles or essays from contests or national academic events in which the journal participates may be published.

Languages

The journal Cooperativism & Development will publish complete articles originally written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Article Structure

The basic structure of an article consists of the following: title, abstract, keywords, body of the text (which may vary according to the type of article and the author's intention), and a list of references. The details that an author must consider when preparing their article for Cooperativism & Development are more extensively described in a template developed for this purpose.

Purpose and Coherence

It is expected that all articles submitted to Cooperativism & Development have an explicit purpose and aim for a contribution of interest to the journal's readers. Similarly, beyond the possible structure the author decides to use to organize the content of their article (review or essay), it is expected that the texts follow a coherent scheme, implicitly containing three essential elements: introduction, articulated development of the topic, and conclusion.

Length

It is suggested that articles have a minimum length of six thousand (6000) words and a maximum of eight thousand (8000) words. Critical reviews should not exceed one thousand five hundred (1500) words.

Thesauri

The journal suggests the use of the following thesauri for the incorporation of keywords in the document: UNESCO Thesaurus and Econlit.

Authors

It is expected that authors submitting to the journal present original texts of their own creation, derived from rigorous research processes that have not been previously published, using sources appropriately as bibliographic support and any other material protected by copyright. The texts must also be carefully written, considering the style and citation requirements corresponding to the journal's standards.

Reviewer Profile

The reviewers of Cooperativism & Development must have at least a master's degree and written production published in the area in which they are invited to evaluate.

Confidentiality

Since peer review will be carried out through a "double-blind" system, to ensure greater independence between the parties (neither authors nor reviewers will have knowledge of each other's identity, academic profile, or origin), this information will only be handled by the journal's editorial team and will not be disclosed to third parties. The records of each article's process will be kept for indexation or peer review verification purposes.

Peer Review System

All articles submitted to the journal for its issues will undergo a "double-blind" peer review process with the help of expert reviewers in each subject. Peer participation is ad honorem, and it is expected to be treated as an academic reciprocity pact, in which peers aim to constructively contribute to strengthening (and validating) research and contributions from other colleagues within the discipline. In the case of reviews, which are dissemination documents, they may be reviewed by the editor or other members of the journal's editorial team. Their publication will be decided based on thematic and textual coherence, relevance to the field, or according to the interest or timeliness of the proposed discussion.

Reviewers

Reviewers of the journal are expected to conduct a thorough and constructive reading of each article they agree to review, aiming not only to issue a recommendation of approval or rejection for the editor but also to provide comments that allow authors to improve their texts or reflect on the scope, possibilities, or shortcomings of their manuscript. Reviewers must also consider that the texts entrusted to them by the editor are unpublished, and any unauthorized use of the information contained therein would constitute a serious ethical breach. Additionally, the responsibility of reviewing a work, once accepted, cannot be transferred to third parties, especially without prior consultation and justification to the editor. Finally, any conflict of interest identified by the reviewer after receiving a work, which could potentially undermine their independence in drafting a review, must be reported.

Exclusivity

Articles submitted for peer review at Cooperativism & Development must not be under evaluation by other journals, nor should they be simultaneously submitted to other peer review processes.

Ethics

The journal and its editorial team will promote, through their policies and actions, ethics in research processes, the appropriate use of content protected by copyright, and the quality of the works published, ensuring that the various collaborators interact under principles of academic integrity.

Notification of Cases

If there is evidence of ethical issues in the research presented in the works published by the journal, doubts about its scientific rigor, suspicion of falsification or improper manipulation of data, undisclosed conflicts of interest, identification of prior publications ("salami slicing"), authorship issues, or plagiarism, please contact the journal editor immediately so that the case can be investigated and appropriate actions can be taken. Notifications about ethical issues will be handled with complete confidentiality, protecting the identity of the person reporting the problem, if so requested.

Retractions, Corrections, and Conflict Resolution

The journal follows the guidelines and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling inappropriate conduct in academic publishing. Retractions or corrections of already published articles will also be made if their content presents errors that affect their scientific quality or proper attribution of authors, whether due to unintentional mistakes in the research and publishing process or serious ethical issues such as plagiarism, falsifications, data manipulation, etc.

Open Access

The journal publishes its content in open access, without any embargo period. Furthermore, all published works appear under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and their use must comply with these licensing terms.

Digital Preservation of Content

The Editorial Fund will ensure the digital preservation of the content published, so that authors can always retrieve their articles over time and maintain access to what has been the journal's history and evolution.

Content Use and Self-Archiving

Authors may self-archive their works in institutional repositories, in the final version (or the publisher's version) in which the article was published, provided the bibliographic data of the article's original publication is recorded, thus giving credit to the journal. Additionally, when self-archiving a published article, it is recommended that authors include a link to the article via its DOI, so it can be consulted on the journal's official website. Authors' active role in disseminating their published works among colleagues, undergraduate and graduate students, and the academic community at large is key to a more effective contribution to the discipline and a greater impact on research and academic processes.

Publication Costs

Submitting works to the journal and their editing process is free; there is no cost at any stage for authors. The journal is fully funded by the Editorial Fund of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.

Submissions

Article submissions must be sent according to the template suggested by the journal (see Submission Checklist), exclusively through the OJS platform. Along with the article, each author must submit a fully completed author sheet as well as a statement of originality and ethical commitment.
