Credit cooperatives are autonomous and democratic enterprises, managed by their own members, who voluntarily come together to address their financial, social, and cultural needs. Innovation is a crucial factor for the success of organizations, including cooperatives, considering the increasing competition in the market. However, a challenge for credit cooperatives is to reconcile the convenience and efficiency of technology with personalized and humanized service. Given this problem, the study’s objective was to identify and analyze the maturity level of innovation management in credit cooperatives that are part of the same system in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil. The study was conducted with four modal credit cooperatives in RS. To measure the degree of innovation, five indicators were used: input indicators (the amount of financial and human resources invested in innovation), innovation forms (how innovation occurs in the cooperative), innovation sources (where the innovation process comes from), output indicators (quantitatively analyzing the return on innovation), and innovation impacts (what has changed in the cooperative through the innovation process). The results showed that the cooperatives under study are moderately innovative (MIN), and they need to pay closer attention to this innovation process to remain competitive in the market.
