Originality

All articles or reviews submitted for peer review in the journal Pensando Psicología must be original, unpublished, and the author's own work. We ask authors to refrain from submitting work that has already been partially or fully published by other means —except for online publications of working papers— or translated into other languages. If evidence of similar or identical documents already published is found, the work will be automatically rejected.

Types of Articles

According to the academic quality requirements for indexing in Colombian journals (Índice Bibliográfico Nacional – Publindex), Pensando Psicología primarily seeks to publish the following types of articles:

Scientific and Technological Research Article

A document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects.

Reflection Article Derived from Research

A document that presents results of research already completed and published in other academic journals from the analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective of the author writing the reflection article, on a specific topic, using original sources.

Review Article

A document resulting from completed research that analyzes, systematizes, or integrates the results of published research on a field in science or technology, to account for advances and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references.

Reviews

Pensando Psicología will accept the submission of critical reviews of monographs, articles, research books, and scientific dissemination in education that may be of interest to the journal's readers. The journal will also offer a space for articles or essays selected from competitions or national academic events in which the journal participates.

Languages

The journal Pensando Psicología will publish complete articles originally written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Structure of the Articles

The basic structure of an article consists of the following: title, abstract, keywords, body of the text (which may vary according to the type of article and the author's intention), and list of references. The details an author should take into account when preparing their article for Pensando Psicología are described in more detail in a template developed for that purpose.

Purpose and Coherence

It is expected that all articles submitted to Pensando Psicología have an explicit purpose and seek to contribute in a way that interests the journal's readership. Furthermore, regardless of the structure the author decides to use to organize the contents of their article (review or essay), the text is expected to follow a coherent scheme, in which three essential elements are implied: introduction, articulated development of the topic, and conclusion.

Length

It is suggested that articles have a minimum length of six thousand words (6000) and a maximum of eight thousand words (8000). Critical reviews should not exceed fifteen hundred words (1500).

Thesauri

The journal suggests the use of the following thesauri for the incorporation of keywords into the document: UNESCO Thesaurus and Biblioteca Virtual de Salud.

Authors

It is expected that authors who contribute to the journal submit original texts, of their own creation, derived from rigorous research processes, that have not been previously published, and that make appropriate use of the sources that serve as bibliographic support as well as any other material protected by copyright. The texts must also be carefully written, taking into account the style and citation requirements corresponding to the journal.

Reviewer Profile

The reviewers of Pensando Psicología must have at least a master's degree and written production published in the area in which they are called to evaluate.

Confidentiality

Since peer review will be carried out through a "double-blind" system, to ensure greater independence between the parties (neither the authors nor the reviewers will have access to each other's identity, academic profile, or origin), this information will only be handled by the journal's responsible team and will not be disclosed to third parties. The records of each article will be kept for indexing or peer review verification purposes.

Peer Review System

All articles submitted to the journal for its editions will undergo a "double-blind" peer review process with the help of expert reviewers in each subject. The participation of the reviewers is ad honorem, and it is expected that they will assume it as an academic reciprocity pact, aimed at constructively contributing to strengthening (and validating) the research and contributions of other colleagues within the discipline. In the case of reviews, which are dissemination documents, they may be reviewed by the editor or other members of the journal's editorial team. Their publication will be decided based on thematic and textual coherence, relevance to the area, or the interest or timeliness of the discussion proposed.

Reviewers

It is expected that the journal's reviewers carry out a thorough and constructive reading of each article they accept to review, seeking not only to provide a recommendation of approval or rejection to the editor but also to offer comments that help the authors improve their texts or reflect on the scope, possibilities, or shortcomings of their manuscript. Likewise, reviewers must consider that the texts entrusted to them by the editor are unpublished, and any unauthorized or improper use of the information contained therein would constitute a serious ethical violation. Moreover, the responsibility of evaluating a work, once accepted, cannot be transferred to third parties, especially if it has not been previously justified and consulted with the editor. Finally, any conflict of interest identified by the reviewer after receiving a work and which could potentially undermine their independence in providing an assessment must be reported.

Exclusivity

Articles submitted for peer review in Pensando Psicología cannot be under review by other journals, nor should they be simultaneously submitted to other peer review processes.

Ethics

The journal and its editorial team will promote, through its policies and actions, ethics in research processes, appropriate use of copyright-protected content, and the quality of the works it publishes, ensuring that all collaborators interact under principles of academic integrity.

Reporting Cases

If there is any evidence of ethical issues in the research presented in the published works of the journal, doubts about its scientific rigor, suspicion of falsification or improper data manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, identification of prior publications ("rehashed" articles), authorship issues, or plagiarism, we kindly ask that you immediately contact the journal editor so that they can investigate the matter and take appropriate actions. Notifications received about ethical issues will be handled with complete confidentiality, protecting the identity of the person reporting the issue, if requested.

Retractions, Corrections, and Conflict Resolution

The journal follows the guidelines and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling inappropriate conduct in academic publishing. Furthermore, retractions or corrections will be made to published articles whose content presents errors that affect their scientific quality or the proper recognition of their authors, whether due to involuntary mistakes in the research and publishing process or serious ethical issues such as plagiarism, fals ifications, data manipulation, etc.

Open Access

The journal publishes its content under open access, without any embargo period. Additionally, all published works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, and their use must comply with these licensing conditions.

Digital Preservation of Content

The Editorial Fund will ensure the digital preservation of the content published, allowing authors to always retrieve their articles over time and maintain access to what has been the history and evolution of the journal.

Use of Content and Self-Archiving

Authors may self-archive their works in institutional repositories, in the final version (or the version of the editor) in which the article was published, provided that the bibliographic details of the original publication of the article are registered, thus giving credit to the journal. Additionally, when self-archiving a published article, it is recommended that authors include a link to the article, via its DOI, so that it can be consulted on the official journal website. An active role on the part of the authors in disseminating their published works among colleagues, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and the academic community, in general, is key to making a more effective contribution to the discipline and generating a greater impact in research processes and academic training.

Publication Costs

Submitting papers to the journal and their editing process is free; there are no costs at any stage for the authors. The journal is fully funded by the Editorial Fund of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.

Submissions

Article proposals must be submitted in Word format, adjusting the text to the template suggested by the journal and only through electronic means. Along with the article, each author must submit a fully completed author form and a letter of originality and ethical commitment. The original file and its attachments should be sent to the attention of the journal editor at the email: pensandopsicologia@ucc.edu.co. Reviews will also be accepted only electronically and in the required template.

Citation Style - APA Sixth Edition

Citation styles allow for the organized presentation of the bibliographic support on which a text is based, including its background, arguments, methodology, etc., and they facilitate the direct location and consultation of these sources. In the case of the journal Pensando Psicología, the standards designed by the American Psychological Association (APA) have been selected and are widely used in publications in the social sciences. Below are some aspects that should be considered for the correct use of APA Sixth Edition standards, along with the specific requirements of the journal.

Reference List

References must appear in alphabetical order by the first letter of the reference. Works by the same author should be organized chronologically. Below, we will show how to cite a book, a book chapter, and a journal article, with examples for each case.

In-text Citations

When a reference is made in the text, the author's last name and the date of the work are included in parentheses within the sentence. References to personal communications are cited in the text but not included in the reference list. If the sentence includes the author's last name, only the date is written in parentheses, and if the author is not included in the sentence, the last name and date are written in parentheses. If the work has more than two authors, all last names are cited the first time, and in subsequent mentions, only the last name of the first author is written, followed by the term et al. If there are more than six authors, et al. is used from the first mention. All references cited in the text must be listed in the reference section at the end of the article. Likewise, the reference list should not include bibliography that has not been used and cited in the text (i.e., the correspondence between both parts must be exact).

Graphic Aspects and Other Particularities

Each table, figure, or chart must indicate its source (or if it is of the author's own creation), citing the reference with the corresponding number. Graphs, figures, and tables should always be provided in an editable format (Excel is suggested). In the case of photographs or images, they must be sent in a minimum resolution of 350 dpi, .jpg format, and authors must certify that they have permission to use or reproduce them.

Article Peer Review Process

As already described, Pensando Psicología will follow a "double-blind" peer review system to evaluate and decide on the publication of its main articles. Below is a more detailed description of the stages in which the peer review process takes place:

Selection of Reviewers

If the article is accepted for peer review, the editor will begin the process of assigning reviewers, locating and inviting two researchers who are experts in the article's topic. They will receive the full text of the article along with a form to guide their evaluation.

Reception and Editorial Evaluation

Once the editor receives the article submission, a notification will be sent to the author confirming receipt. The editor will then conduct a preliminary review of the article to determine whether the submission fully complies with the journal's presentation requirements and whether the article aligns with the thematic and editorial scope. The editor will have full authority to decide whether the article can be accepted for a full peer review process or if it should be rejected in the first instance. Also, during this phase, the manuscript may be returned to the authors requesting some corrections or clarifications before the article is officially registered for peer review. If this is the case, the authors must resubmit the article with adjustments (or any missing documentation, such as the author form or the commitment letter) if they wish to continue with the process.

Evaluation Timeframe

The usual time for locating and securing peer reviewers may range between one (1) and three (3) weeks, depending on the article's topic and the availability of the invited reviewers. Once the articles are received, the suggested timeframe for delivering an evaluation is three (3) to four (4) weeks; however, the deadlines will be negotiated directly with each reviewer, considering their availability (and ensuring that the process is carried out as efficiently as possible).

Results

The editor will send a decision to the authors based on the feedback from at least two reviewers. In the event of conflicting peer opinions (one approval and one rejection), a third reviewer will be invited before the editor communicates a decision to the authors. The evaluation result may be "approved without modifications," "approved with minor modifications," "approved with substantial modifications," or "rejected." The "approved with substantial modifications" recommendation is equivalent to a "revise and resubmit," meaning the authors are expected to significantly revise the proposal. Otherwise, the journal will consider the peer review process concluded, allowing the authors to submit the work to another publication.

Corrections

Along with sending a result, if the editor considers it feasible to receive a revised version of the article, a deadline for submitting the new version will be agreed upon with the authors, ranging from two (2) to ten (10) weeks, depending on the extent of the revisions. If the authors fail to meet the agreed-upon deadlines, the editor may terminate the article's process, discarding its publication in the journal. Additionally, to facilitate the verification of the revised version, authors must edit their article using the "track changes" tool in Word, as well as submit a letter addressed to each reviewer explaining the adjustments made. Without this feedback to the reviewers, the editor will not send the revised article to the verification stage.

Verification and Final Version

Verification will generally be conducted with the help of the reviewers, but the editor may also review the revisions directly if the corrections have been minor. Therefore, if minor adjustments are requested for an article, authors are asked to refrain from making substantive changes or introducing conceptual or methodological adjustments that have not been reviewed by the reviewers. On the other hand, if the revisions are satisfactory, the editor will notify the authors of the approval and request the final version of the article in a template, which will be forwarded to editorial production. If, during the preparation of the final version, an important error is detected that requires correcting or modifying the article in any substantial way, the editor must be informed.

Editorial Production

The articles and other types of texts approved for publication in an issue of Pensando Psicología will undergo a professional editorial production process consisting of the following stages: style editing, layout, proof review, verification, and final art approval.

Editorial Tracking

Authors must submit the manuscript approved for publication using the journal's template, ensuring full compliance with all the instructions provided. Additionally, authors are responsible for addressing any comments, questions, or corrections that arise during editing, within the agreed-upon timeframes, to avoid delays in publication. Authors are also responsible for verifying the integrity of the text's content and readability. Once the articles or texts in the editing process have been approved in their final version for publication, any errors or omissions will be the authors' responsibility.

Distribution and Access

Each author will receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their article is published. Additionally, the digital version of the article and the complete issue will be available for the author's use to help promote its dissemination among the target audience. Pensando Psicología follows an open-access policy and will seek as many channels and strategies as possible to ensure the editions it publishes are visible to a broad (national and international) audience. However, authors should understand that the impact of their article's dissemination largely depends on their active participation in the process. It is expected that authors send the digital version of their article to researchers in their countries and abroad and encourage its use as a bibliographic resource in research and writing processes among their colleagues, as well as promoting its consultation in the classroom among undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.

Reproduction and Translations

If you wish to reproduce or translate an article or text published in Pensando Psicología, please contact the journal by email (pensandopsicologia@ucc.edu.co), addressed to the editor. However, texts published in the journal do not require special authorization to be consulted, downloaded, or linked to the journal's website from personal, institutional, or repository pages.

Legal Notice

The perspectives or views expressed in the articles and texts published in Pensando Psicología are the responsibility of their authors and do not, in any way, represent the journal, the Editorial Fund, or the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia. Likewise, the primary purpose of the journal is to serve the academic community and advance knowledge in Education, so the selection process for the material it publishes considers academic, editorial, and legal aspects that are evaluated in each case to decide on the manuscripts received. Subject to these factors, the journal is not obligated to publish any text and may decline its publication at any stage of the process if it deems that it does not align with its editorial line or contradicts any of its editorial policies. Similarly, any claims from third parties regarding the use of works or excerpts from them in an article or text will be the authors' responsibility, thus exonerating the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.
