Resilient characteristics in physically active youths and in their non sportive peers, from the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas
We made a psychological study of the life stories of the subjects and employed a semi structured interview, the Dembo Rubinstein scales, the self-esteem inventory, the inventory to evaluate resilient factors, the Lazarus and Folkman Ways of Coping questionnaire, and the M. Casullo isolation and loneliness questionnaire. We observed as main result that students who systematically practice sports present better levels of self-esteem and autonomy, are more secure when acting, and have better ways of copping. In students that don’t practice sports regularly, we observed a better use of the resources that come from family support and a lesser tendency to feel isolation and solitude.
